Intellectual Property

Intellectual property is a component of almost every business, whether dealing with trademarks and service marks, copyrights, or publicity rights, trade secrets and the like.  It is important to have a plan when starting or running a business for how you will handle the legal aspects of these matters.

Often, a business or a project startup has no master intellectual property plan, and the participants can later find that they paid for creative work that they do not own due to lack of the proper paperwork, or provisions in that paperwork.  A creator and provider of intellectual property can also be surprised by provisions in fine print that were not properly analyzed from a legal standpoint.

We can provide an analysis of your needs and can assist you with copyright and trademark registrations, confidentiality agreements, licensing agreements, work for hire agreements, independent contractor agreements, and the like.  We can provide a structure with the proper agreements that reflect your intention about work for hire, nonexclusive licensing, exclusive licensing, etc.
